06 Feb DIY Coffee Scrub
Winter weather can leave your skin feeling dry and dull. The freezing air paired with drying indoor heat is a combination that is sure to suck the moisture out of your skin. This winter, fight back!
Coffee lovers, this one is for you! Try this super easy DIY coffee scrub to brighten up your complexion, smooth away flakiness, and invigorate your skin. Don’t let winter put a damper on your inner sunshine.
Nothing says bring on spring like fresh, glowing skin! Not to mention the delicious smell of coffee as an added bonus. This recipe is a lot like your typical sugar or salt scrub; the exfoliating texture of coffee grounds plus a hydrating oil makes your skin smooth, silky, and moisturized. And it only takes a few minutes to put together!
- ½ cup coffee grounds
- ¼ cup coconut or olive oil
- 2 tablespoons white or brown sugar (or a combination of both)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla (optional – this will make your scrub and your skin smell like a latte!)
- 2-3 vitamin E gel tabs (optional for added moisturizing benefits)
Thoroughly combine coffee grounds and sugar. Add oil (also add vanilla and vitamin E if using) and mix until well combined. Store in a water-tight container with lid. You can put this right in your shower for easy use!
Use this just like any other scrub! Apply a tablespoon or two where you want your skin to look refreshed and radiant (everywhere)! Use gentle circular motions to slough away dry skin. Rinse off in the shower and use your favorite moisturizer after. An added bonus: coffee grounds are known to reduce the appearance of cellulite, redness, and inflammation on your skin, so focus your scrub on these areas for extra happiness all around.
