15 Aug DIY Exfoliating Coconut Oil – Sugar Facial Scrub
Whether you live in a hot, dry area or an icy cold area, the elements have a drying effect on your skin – especially your face! Incorporating a weekly exfoliation into your routine will slough off dry patches of dead skin and leave you with smooth, glowing skin soft to the touch. Using natural ingredients like organic coconut oil and sugar gives you all the benefits of an exfoliator and moisturizer without leaving your skin oily or clogging up pores.
This easy DIY coconut oil sugar facial scrub can be your all-in-one face wash, exfoliator, moisturizer, and make-up remover. When you make your own skincare products such as this one, you will not only know exactly what goes in them (and be able to avoid harsh chemicals, scents, and dyes), but you will also be saving money!
Coconut Oil – Sugar Facial Scrub
Here’s what you’ll need:
1-2 tablespoons coconut oil (you can find organic virgin coconut oil at your grocery store)
3 tablespoons natural granulated sugar (organic cane sugar or turbinado sugar are great options)
Combine the ingredients in a bowl until all the sugar is mixed into the oil. Using your fingers to mix will slightly warm up the coconut oil, making it easier to blend (and a warm mixture will help open up your pores). A spoon works fine, too! Try to avoid using a microwave to melt the oil, as this will dissolve the sugar and get rid of the exfoliation properties of the scrub.
To use the scrub, gently massage it on your face in circular motions, avoiding the sensitive eye area. You can massage for up to five minutes, depending on the dryness of your face. Rinse off with a washcloth and warm water and pat dry. The oil will absorb into your skin immediately, leaving you with a fresh face and radiant complexion!
