It is Time to Schedule Some Me-Time!

time for me timeBetween long work days, running to and from school to pick up the kids, and busy nights preparing dinner, it’s easy to neglect scheduling a little bit of ‘me’ time every once in a while. However, it is a necessity to keep sane when everything else in life is crazy! Here are a few tips on when and what to schedule some time just for you.

Develop a daily skin routine: cleanse and moisturize!

Whether your skin is dry, oily, acne prone, sensitive, or combination, a daily cleansing and moisturizing routine will give your skin the care and attention it needs to look radiant and beautiful. Ditch the harsh drugstore cleansers; there are many natural skin cleansing options that are much gentler on your skin. Ingredients like honey, oils, yogurt, and oatmeal will give you all the benefits of commercial cleansers without the harsh stripping agents that can damage your skin. Once you’ve cleansed, don’t forget the moisturizer. Your skin needs the added hydration for a glowing, smooth complexion.

For an easy daily routine, mix one tablespoon each of honey, milk, and oatmeal, add a squirt of lemon juice, and heat in the microwave until all ingredients blend together. Let the mixture cool down to a comfortably warm temperature and smooth it on your skin with gentle circular motions. Rinse off with warm water, pat dry, and finish with a moisturizing lotion (shea or cocoa butter lotions are a great natural option).

Schedule time for a pedicure every other week.

Let’s face it – your feet could use some TLC. After hours of standing and running around, stuffed inside a pair of shoes or collecting dirt in flip flops, your feet will be sore, rough, and maybe even a little smelly. Getting a pedicure is not only a good fix for achy soles, unruly nails, or dry heels, but more importantly it allows you to take time out of your day to relax and pamper yourself.

Don’t worry if you can’t always afford a trip to the spa; you can give yourself a great pedicure at home with warm water, a buffer pad, lotion, and a little nail polish.

Get a monthly massage.

Making time for a massage regularly can help ease back pain and improve your range of motion, muscle ability, and circulation. Massage relaxes and softens overused muscles, and can enhance your sleep quality. It is important to give your body and mind a break once in a while, and massage is the best, most relaxing way to do that!
