Even though you may get outside less during the winter, taking care of your face in the colder months is crucial. Often times we tend to neglect our skin after summer comes to an end, but skin care is essential year round, whether you are active outdoors or not. Bitter winds, drying indoor heat, and an overall lack of moisture in the air turns skin flaky, chapped, and crying out for help.
Luckily, there are face masks to come to the rescue! In addition to extra moisturizer, your skin can always benefit from a hydrating face mask to bring back your skin’s glow. While pumpkin is a popular ingredient during winter, this face mask switches it up with turmeric.
Turmeric’s strong antioxidant properties benefit the skin when applied topically (just as they benefit the body when taken internally). Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, which our skin is exposed to daily from air pollution and UV rays – even during winter! Turmeric has also been used in traditional medicine to lighten and eliminate dark spots, making this mask perfect for stubborn undereye circles, hyperpigmentation, and a dull complexion.
Bring back the radiance to your skin this winter with an easy, fast DIY turmeric face mask:
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened yogurt
- 1 tablespoon organic raw honey
- ½ teaspoon organic turmeric powder
Mix all of the ingredients together into a paste. Apply to clean, damp skin and let sit for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with warm water and apply a moisturizer, and your skin should be feeling and looking its best!
As turmeric’s bright yellow hue can temporarily stain your skin, it is recommended to apply this face mask at night before bed. The moisturizer will help lift any remaining pigment, and your skin will be looking fresh the next morning.
