Glo Skin Beauty

Glo is the longest standing product line we’ve carried at the school, since 2013. This is not misspelled – they go by “Glo” not “Glow” – I’ve always loved that offshoot take on the word Glow and what we all aspire to with our skin – having that glowing, radiate beauty that is always a combination of what we use on our skin, what we put into our bodies, our thoughts, and our spirit.

They started as Glo Minerals in 2000, and they focused on mineral makeup. They are a Denver-based company. So are we. I love this synergy – two Denver businesses connected and supporting each other in the realm of beauty.

We started with their makeup line. It was important for me to have an impactful makeup line that was also clean. Impactful in that it works well as makeup, but then also is clean and nourishing for the skin. I wanted great color options for an array of Fitzpatrick types (color skin types) and high-performing makeup that doesn’t melt as soon as it’s put to the test with a busy, active life.

Historically, more “natural” makeup doesn’t have the staying power that a professional makeup artist would need, but Glo does. It’s high performing. But it’s also clean – many high-performing makeup lines are not clean and are toxic for your skin and your health. Glo has the best of both worlds.

We tried a few other makeup lines at our inception and over the years, and we’ve always come back to Glo as being our favorite and best line for makeup. I personally only use Glo makeup. Nothing comes close to its clean ingredients, consistency, texture, blendabilty, hue options, and price point for me. Also, it doesn’t look like I’m wearing much makeup – it covers and corrects where I need it to, but then also leaves a natural texture and look when you want it to.

Glo is inclusive for our students’ needs – some of them will be professional makeup artists, and some will do some light makeup application post-treatments for clients – this line can serve both ambitions, which I love. It’s clean and it performs. My skin will stay healthy when wearing Glo. So will yours.

In 2017, Glo Minerals became Glo Skin Beauty – they fused their skincare line with their makeup line into one new name. As our makeup instructor, Kat DeJesus, always says, “The best makeup is good skin.” It was only natural for Glo to have a skincare line with their makeup line. In 2018, we added on pieces of their skincare line and have continued to add products to our lineup and now have a very full backbar and retail of both Glo Skin Beauty skincare products and makeup products.

Their skincare line is innovative. I appreciate that they hold true to clean skincare (non-toxic) and they also take a clinical and “next generation actives” approach to their ingredients. Their products and formulations make me want to be a chemist. Ingredients like alpha arbutin, niacinamide, vegan lactic acid, bakuchiol, and EGF (epidermal growth factor) are some of my favorite ones lately.

Glo products are also 100% vegan and cruelty-free. It’s important to me to have skincare options for our students that reflect their ethical decisions. I’ve been vegan at various points in my life, so I understand the importance of having products connect with our values and morals. I admire that they are cruelty-free. This is not a choice that many cosmetic companies choose to follow. Various resources from 2024 and 2025 show that 78% – 88% of the top 50 beauty brands are not cruelty-free, typically because they test on animals. This is daunting to me.

I also appreciate that most of their products are gluten-free, which is important to me because I need to eat gluten-free and have learned with my health that I also need gluten-free products.

I love that Glo products don’t really have any scent to them. They are mostly fragrance-free, and the only fragrance you do smell from them is due to their natural, active, and botanical ingredients.

Glo Skin Beauty connects with our values as a school – clean and effective. I’m grateful to them as a business and am excited to keep seeing what they unveil and release. You can be sure we’ll be sharing their newest and their best with our students.
