You’ve made a decision to go see an esthetician.  Now comes the challenge of trying to choose an esthetician that is right for you.  It’s really important that you inform yourself beforehand.  At least have a basic knowledge about what an esthetician can do for you and maybe have a few skincare goals in mind.

It’s important to find an esthetician who is knowledgeable and interested in honing their craft and skill with continuing education and conferences.  A spa or salon will have a page on their website listing an esthetician’s bio.  You will be able to read the training and education they have had.

Choose an esthetician who offers advice and is willing to educate their clients.  They should be able to recommend products and routines that are appropriate for each client’s unique needs.  This means that the esthetician should be a good listener and compassionate about what the client is asking.

Try to find someone who is positive and upbeat.  You will be working very closely with this person, so it is important to feel comfortable and walk away from a session feeling good.

The most important piece of advice on how to choose an esthetician, is of course to ask your friends and family.  Word of mouth is still the best way to find out about a great esthetician!
