1. Diet
You are what you eat, and your skin shows it! Fight the appearance of age-related skin issues such as wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sagginess, and a dull complexion by starting from the inside out. Foods high in antioxidants (white and green tea, ginger, grape seed extract) and vitamin C (oranges, papaya, lemon) have strong anti-aging properties and will help your skin look brighter, produce more collagen, and remove toxins that would otherwise seep through and cause damage.
Remember, hydration is a key part of your diet too! Drinking enough water is the #1 thing you can do to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy.
2. Honey
Not only is honey full of skin-enhancing antioxidants, it is also a natural cleanser due to its anti-bacterial properties. When applied to your skin, honey draws out impurities, clears your complexion, and even acts as a natural moisturizer. Add it to your tea, or apply it directly to your face to enjoy the anti-aging benefits.
3. Exfoliation
Regular exfoliation plays a huge role in the overall texture and appearance of your skin. However, it is important to keep exfoliation as gentle as possible, and limit it to once a day (or even just a few times a week). For a gentle, natural exfoliator that will slough away dead skin cell build-up, clear pores, and leave you with a smooth, glowing complexion, just use oatmeal! Oatmeal is extremely gentle and acts as an anti-inflammatory and natural moisturizer. Finely grind one cup of oatmeal in a blender or food processor, and mix in a cup of plain yogurt. Apply in gentle circular motions to your face, let sit for 15 minutes, and rinse off with warm water – voila!
4. Sunscreen
Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is one of the most effective anti-aging techniques to keep you looking fresh and young. Too much UV radiation can accelerate the appearance of wrinkles, sun spots, and other signs of aging by destroying your skin’s collagen and elastin. To protect the suppleness and youthfulness of your skin, cover up as much as possible and always apply sunscreen.
5. Eggs
Although it may not be the most pleasant of the bunch, eggs are actually one of the simplest natural anti-aging skin care ingredients you can find. Just separate one egg and apply the egg white directly to your face. As it tightens, the egg white draws out impurities in your skin that cause a dull or blotchy complexion – including oil, making this great for oily skin. Rinse off with warm water after 10 minutes and you will notice radiant, clear skin.
