Did you know that men get a regular exfoliation every time they shave? Perhaps that has something to do with how much slower they seem to age than women? Fortunately, women have caught on and upped the anti on shaving! Something that not only removes hair, brightens your skin tone, and softens the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, but also comes without razor burns and ingrown hairs – it’s Dermaplaning and we are all over it!
20% off (normally $36) – 45 minute procedure
Dermaplaning is a professional procedure that takes face shaving to a whole new level. Whether you have hair on your upper lip or peach fuzz across your chin, dermaplaning your face can enhance your appearance. Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair also known as, peach fuzz. This hair often causes a buildup of dirt and oils in the follicles, so removing the hair instantly gives you healthier, brighter looking skin. Removal of vellus hair also helps to reduce occurrences of acne because bacteria and oils won’t get trapped on the skin’s surface. Removing epidermal skin also allows products to penetrate more readily into the deeper layers increasing skincare absorption, it makes makeup application smoother and easier, and it reduces the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and mild scars.
Physicians may recommend this treatment to prepare the skin for medical procedures such as laser treatments or deep chemical peels. It also may be used by estheticians to prepare the skin for superficial chemical peels or before a cleansing facial. It’s also a great treatment for pregnant or nursing women who want a deep exfoliation but are not allowed to use peeling agents because of the risk that the chemicals will be absorbed into the bloodstream, and may be transferred to the fetus or the child. Although merely an old wives’ tale, many clients are often concerned that the hair will grow back heavier and darker after dermaplaning. This is not the case. As long as the hair is superficial vellus hair, it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment and you shouldn’t see any unsightly stubble like men have. There is no recovery time involved with this procedure and the skin starts to heal itself immediately, producing newer, healthier skin. Dermaplaning can be done as often as every two weeks, although it is usually done when vellus hair starts to grow back, which is generally in one month’s time.
This all sounds great, but are you a little bit afraid of giving dermaplaning a try? Does your skin need peach fuzz for protection? Will it irritate or cause dark whiskers? Is this way too manly for a girl? What you need is some sound expert advice from one of our trained students and licensed supervisors. They will walk you through the process, answer any questions you have, and get you started on the path to GLOWING skin!!
